Dogs for Diabetes

Dec 26, 2007

The Orange branch of Diabetes Australia NSW enjoyed their Christmas party over a BBQ lunch at the Orange Hockey Centre on Saturday 1 December.

During the party, members from the Paws for Diabetics (PFD) organisation brought along some of their ‘Hypoalert’ dogs. These special dogs have been trained to recognise when their diabetic owners’ blood sugar levels are dropping and alert them in time, before they have an attack of hypoglycaemia.

PFD is a non-government funded group that relies on donations and sponsorship to carry out their great work.

They also rely heavily on dog breeders to donate puppies or sell them at a reduced price. To make a donation or for more information you can either call Sharon Scott (Director of Training – Paws for Diabetics ) on mobile 0428 188 841 or visit the PFD website www.pfd.org.au
