POOCHES and pet lovers put their best paw forward for the second annual Kwinana Fun Dog Show at Peace Park in Parmelia last weekend.

A crowd of hundreds turned out to show off their pets and take part in competitions. While it was a tough decision for judges, the prize for Best in Show

went to Winston 'the wonder whippet', a diabetic alert dog and vltal

member of owner Kaylene Burnell's family. Winston alerts Kaylene

when her blood sugar levels are too high or low by showing signs of distress including shaking, whining and licking.

Deputy Mayor Dennis Wood said he was delighted to see such a diverse

group of dogs and owners attend the show, which was held to promote

responsible pet ownership.
