WESTERN AUSTRALIA'S 1st EVER PAWS FOR DIABETICS FUND RAISING EVENT

October 19th 2007

On the 19th October Paws for Diabetics was invited to attend a cocktail party held by the John Curtin Leadership Academy (JCLA). Funds were being raised and donated to assist with placing of puppies for our organisation. My husband, two daughters, Corey and Oscar attended.

We were greeted by a sea of green and white balloons, streamers, a slide show displaying PFD and they even had a gentleman singing and playing his guitar.  These young men and woman made us feel very welcome straight away. The night started with a few cocktails and socialising. I then went around meeting and greeting everyone talking about Paws for Diabetics and what could be achieved with a little help from the community.

Everyone settled in to start partying and all were having a great time.

I was asked to do a short speech about PFD, I had never done anything like this before, but I was willing to give it a go. I was very nervous and did the speech. I don’t think anyone notice a couple of stumbles. We even presented them a lovely Paws for Diabetics Certificate of Appreciation. Later I was informed that it was their first and only Certificate they had received and they were very eager to hang it on their office wall

By about 10.00pm we were very tired and left, they continued the party for quite a while I am sure. They should be proud of them selves of the lovely job they did. I could never thank them enough.

Overall the night was a great success and I think everyone had a great time.

Congratulations to the team of Ben, Roger, Daniel, Casey, Tiffany, Mutassem, Helen and Anton for a successful night and their great effort and support.
