Kwinana Annual Dog Festival 2008Kwinana Dog Festival 2008
On Sunday the 19th October 2008, Kaylene, Anita and I chose to attend the Kwinana Dog Festival with dogs and family members in tow. It is run by our local Shire to highlight good dog practices. These include health, vet care, registration and dog behaviour and training. It was very hot and we sweltered in the heat. We had a few interested people and had to remind lots that the green jacket meant that they are an assistant dog and working and you couldn’t touch when their jackets were on. We also got the chance to sell a few pens and got some donations, well really Andrew (Kaylene’s Husband) did. He did a good job and has a good gift of the gab and would be handy to have at our next adventure. We think we may have our own stall next year as it is a big PR opportunity and being it is aimed solely at dog owners people wanted to know about our 4 legged friends. We all headed back to my place for a well earned cold drink and a chat. Even Doggies need time off, so off went their jackets for some play time, but with no jacket on Winston and Oscar know they can have some play time. It wasn’t long when Winston and family were off home, so on went his jacket again and back working so Corey and Oscar had to remember that play time had finished, still Corey had lots of fun playing with his two buddies.
I decided that I couldn’t do all the event reports by myself and we needed a different view, so I ask Winston if he would like to be our junior reporter. Being he is so eager to please everyone he licked at the chance to give a four legged report. So keep reading for his first and hopefully not his last report. Kwinana Dog Festival October 19th 2008 (Best in Show) Hello this is Winston Burnell reporter for "Paws for Diabetic Inc" The temperature today was 30 degrees in the shade. Very hot but I am a big brave reporter so I put up with the heat. That is what you have to do when you are a big brave reporter like me I want a story so I've got to go out there and get it. Today there were plenty of dogs at the Kwinana Dog show every one was having a ball really despite the heat. There was plenty to see, sniff and chew. With lots of tasty treats for everyone to try and lots of competitions too. I met my Uncle Oscar at the show we are really and truly related you know in the doggie world that is. Oscar came down to the show with his human daddy Corey and I was at the show with my human mummy Kaylene and the rest of our families, it was fun to see my Uncle Oscar again. We had fun looking at all the stalls. I even met up with some new doggie mates. We even collected a few donations too that was really good. We were treated like movie stars, Keith from Bark Busters got us to stand up the front of the stage with our human mummy and daddy while he introduced us to the crowd, we even got claps. Uncle Oscar stayed for a while but it was getting a bit hot so he invited us back to his place we said we would love to go back to his place we would meet him after lunch. Then he went home with his daddy Corey. Shortly after that I spotted this absolutely beautiful vision of loveliness out of the corner of my eye. I was thinking I really really would like to know who she is. Then I noticed hey she has a green jacket on just like me. Then my mummy Kaylene went over and spoke to her, I found out that her name was Mika and her human mummy's name was Anita. Anita and Mika are members of Paws for Diabetics Inc just like me and my human mummy Kaylene and my Uncle Oscar and his daddy Corey. After lunch there was an announcement something about a competition to see who was going to be the Best Dog in Show. My human mummy Kaylene decided to enter me. I thought I've got this in the bag look at all those other puppies I can beat all of them. So when the judges came over to me I turned on my charms. I sat nicely when I was told and the judges were so impressed with me they couldn't resist my personality and good looks and guess who took the prizes home it was yours truly Winston the reporter. I had my photo taken with my human mummy Kaylene and I received a special certificate and lots of doggie treats. Our photo and story will be printed in the local Kwinana Weekend courier. I am a Star. My human mummy Kaylene was so very proud of me she gave me extra big kisses and cuddles and she told me she loved me heaps and heaps. Then we went over to my Uncle Oscar’s house to show him all my prizes and my Uncle Oscar also told me how proud he was of me. I may be only four months old but I've got everyone eating out of my hands and boy do I know how to turn on the charms. This is Winston Burnell Reporter for Paws For Diabetics Inc signing off for now this has been another successful day of reporting.
